& Free ShippingDiscovered in the South of France, we are delighted to present this exceptionally rare, matching pair of large 19th-century footed glass bonbon jars, still containing their historic contents.
An exceptional pair of mouth-blown French clear glass urn-form apothecary/sweetmeat jars, dating to the late 19th century (c. 1880–1890). Featuring classic baluster-shaped bodies, short pedestal stems, and tall, stepped lids with hand-faceted finials, these statement pieces showcase remarkable craftsmanship.
The glass displays wonderful character, including delicate enclosed air bubbles (seeds) from the mouth-blowing process, alongside subtle authentic cloudiness and gentle internal patina consistent with genuine antique age. Both jars and lids remain in structural condition—free of any cracks, chips, or major damage.
Each jar comes filled with a distinct collection of historic marbles:
Jar 1: Filled with earthy, multi-toned French clay marbles dating to the 1920s–1930s. These display a beautiful matte, weathered patina and varied natural tones.
Jar 2: Filled with vibrant, swirl-patterned 1950s vintage glass marbles, offering a striking visual contrast to the vessel’s antique profile.
