These French Apothecary/Pharmacy metric system measuring cups are made on pewter.
Made in the 19C approx 1870 by the makers Bellan Cadeta Toulouse
These are from a pharmacy in Carcassonne.
The stamps are verification marks signifying that the measure has been inspected by an official and found to be of the correct capacity. It became a legal requirement to stamp all measures with a verification mark some time around 1835.
The verification marks ensured that correct doses of medication were measured and given out to patients.
It was common for measuring cups to be inspected several times during life in use and as a result they can each carry several verification marks. Letters often signified the year of inspection.
