Vintage Oil on Canvas Painting by S. Fontaine – “Beached Boats at Sunset”
Dimensions: 41 cm (W) x 27 cm (H)
Medium: Oil on canvas
Artist: S. Fontaine
Circa: Mid-20th century (estimated)

This atmospheric oil painting by S. Fontaine captures a tranquil coastal scene at sunset, featuring two rustic boats resting on a golden, textured shoreline. The impressionist brushwork and rich, earthy tones evoke the warmth of the setting sun as it casts long shadows and reflects on the wet sand. The subtle gradations in the sky — from dusky pinks and purples to the soft blues above — add depth and serenity to the composition.

Signed “Fontaine S” in the lower right corner, this piece has a charming, slightly naïve style that adds to its nostalgic appeal. The canvas shows signs of age and wear consistent with its vintage nature, adding to its character and authenticity.

A wonderful addition to any collection of coastal or maritime art, or for those seeking a warm and evocative statement piece with vintage charm.
